The balance bar is an auxiliary elastic element in automobile suspension. Its function is to reduce the inclination of the vehicle when turning, to harden the shock absorption when encountering bumpy roads, and to overcome the ups and downs. It can also enhance the rigidity of the engine compartment and make it stronger.
The balance bar is also called the stabilizer bar. The car adopts the stabilizer bar structure in the suspension system, which can be used to increase the suspension roll angle stiffness, reduce the body angle, and improve the ride comfort of the car. The hardness of the balance bar is determined by the material made, the shaft, the diameter, the length of the lever arm and the angle formed by the shaft. The longer the length of the shaft, the softer the hardness, whereas the longer the length of the lever arm increases its hardness. Limited by the width of the car, the length of the shaft can hardly be changed, but the length of the rod diameter and the rod arm is relatively easy to adjust. The important function of the balance bar is to achieve control balance and limit the body roll when cornering to improve the tire's adhesion to the ground. When cornering, the suspension of the inner curved wheel is stretched and the suspension of the outer curved wheel is compressed. At this time, the balance bar will twist to resist this situation. It will exert a downward pressure force on the suspension of the curved outer wheel, and a lifting force on the suspension of the curved inner wheel. The forces exerted on the left and right suspensions are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction to each other. A balance bar that is too soft will cause excessive camber when cornering and reduce the tire's ground contact area in an independently suspended car. If it is too hard, the tire will not be able to close to the ground and affect handling.
